Light, air, and space are perhaps Manhattan’s most precious commodities. In a city where essential comforts are increasingly consigned to upper class luxuries, the project seeks to offer residents access to nature and community in an affordable package.
Using a terrace typology, each unit is oriented for maximum daylighting and enjoys its own outdoor patio. The prefab modules are slotted into a steel superstructure—a cost-effective solution able to adapt to multiple scales and contexts. With an open floor plan, residents are free to embrace their individual living habits while the underside of the ‘mountain’ forms a leisure, exercise, and social space.
